The cashew tree grows in tropical areas. The tree produces a soft and tiny fruit that bears a single-seeded nut on its bottom, covered with a hard shell. The nut is the most valued product and is commonly consumed in various food items.

W-450 cashews
In total there are more than 30 different grades of cashews. These grades are given on the basis of the size, colour and texture of different varieties of cashews.

W450 cashews are the smallest and cheapest whole white kernels. These are widely produced among low-grade cashews. These are whole cashews and hence are priced higher than the sliced and split cashews.

Comparison/Difference between different grades of cashews
Cashew kernels are graded into white, scorched, pieces, splits etc. depending on the shape, size and colour of the cashew kernels.

W-180 – These are known as the king of cashews. They are larger in size and expensive.

W-210 – These are popularly known as Jumbo nuts.

W-450 means that the cashews would produce 450 cashews per pound. The fewer the cashews per pound, the larger the cashews are in size. The cashew grades of W-320 to W-450 are the most preferred because of their affordability and availability.
